Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Education Committee (PYEC)

ssdptg.jpg (504732 bytes) PYEC is responsible for strategic planning and determines policy and operational procedures for schools across the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Lands.
Its membership is comprised entirely of Anangu adults and includes an elected representatives from each community, the Anangu Coordinator from each school (joint administrator working with the school principal), an Anangu Executive Officer (Director) and a Chairperson.

PYEC is responsible to the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Council (AP) for overseeing the contract between AP and the Minister for Education and Children's Services to provide schools on the AP Lands. The section of DETE which is responsible for these services is called AES (Anangu Education Services). PYEC works with officers of AES to plan and ensure PYEC policy is implemented.

Recent events has seen PYEC developing vocational training initiatives which come under the Minister for Employment and Training. With this initiative AP/PYEC will take responsibility for TAFE (Technical and Further Education) on the Lands.
