These web pages were produced to assist learning the correct sounds of Pitjantjatjara words after finding that listening to tapes often required constant rewinding to hear the word again and practice matching my attempts to the model. Clicking on a sound file linked to an html page proved easier to manage. This resource is not meant to be a proper presentation, course in Pitjantjatjara or have any status except as a personal learning tool that I developed during my study leave. Some colleagues suggested I share it so here it is without apology. It also prevented me from driving some Anangu friends crazy!!

The serious student is directed to the resources listed below.

My thanks to Emily Buddy from Pipalyatjara, Pollyanne Smith from Fregon and AnTEP students from Ernabella and Fregon who gave permission for me to record and use their voices and to publish this on the web.

Thanks also to Peter Kozberski, from On*Q Computer Projects who lent me a sound card for the Acorn RiscOS computer to capture and process the sound files.

Any one using these pages as a resource and finding any errors, please contact the website manager by clicking on the feedback button below. Thank you.
